David wins Trustee of the Year

We are thrilled to announce that David has won the Trustee of the Year at the Richmond's Community Heroes Awards. Thank you to everyone who voted for Fair Start Charity.

David, founder of Fair Start charity, says: "I am honoured to receive this award, especially as Fair Start is still in its infancy. I visited my old primary school in September 2024 and spoke to the headteacher about what she needed that would make a difference to her school. The response was to refurbish the library and from then the concept of Fair Start was born. One in seven primary schools do not have a functioning school library and this rises to one in four in areas of deprivation. Fair Start aims to address this through donations and volunteers. This award is for the incredible team who have given their time, it is for our volunteers who have provided books and who help with the running of the libraries - and it is for everyone who has donated money which goes straight towards buying library furniture, systems and paint, which not only transforms rooms into libraries but also children's lives to help them out of book poverty."
